I created and placed my “Leftover Ham & Eggs” in a different perspective for a couple of reasons. The first being that it was painted above the still life, which I believe allows the eye to easily move around the image and enjoy more that one entry point to the painting. The second being the actual subject matter. When we think of “leftovers” we picture some type of food that wasn't finished at a meal, fully cooked and still consumable. We don't think of the materials that actually went into the meal and if there is some part of those ingredients that remain after cooking. The eggshells and bones are the remnants of that production and still beautiful in their own right.
